Slide Out Awnings

I have a 2005 Monaco Diplomat and was wondering if anyone knows if there is any way of tightening up the awnings that have a little sag in them. The awnings I have are Colorado Carefree.

RE: Moisture In Carpeted Passenger Cockpit

I solved my problem by running a bead of Silicone II around the dooor frame and the moisture has stopped. Thanks for the input.

Moisture In Carpeted Passenger Cockpit

We have had a lot of rain over the past 2 weeks where we are parked and today we noticed that the passenger space in front of the steps has some moisture on the carpet. The carpeted space is only about 10" x 24" and the tiles was a little damp as well next to the center of the cockpit.
I have looked in the generator compartment and it is dry. I have taken the panel off in the moisture area and the front and right side wall is dry. We have our door awning open over the door.
We have a 2005 Monaco Diplomat 40 PAQ and I cannot seem to locate where this moisture may have come from.
Has anyone experienced this similar problem?

RE: HWH Leveling jacks

I had the same problem with my RVA Jacks on my Monaco. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me that 99% of the time it is a leaking Retract/Extend Valve.
They sent me a new Valve for $45 and I had it installed and it fixed the problem. Hope this helps!!

RE: RV Bay Heat For The Winter

I solved my posted question by purchasing a Caframo 9206CA-BBX Heater. It has and "Anti-Freeze" setting that automatically turns the heater on when the temperature drops to 38 degerees farenheit. This heater also has 600 Watt, 900 Watt and 1500 Watt settings with a built-in thermostat. It cost $59.99 at Home Hardware and is packaged as a "Classic" Home Hardware brand. Thanks everyone for your comments.

RV Bay Heat For The Winter

Does anyone have any thoughts and/or recommendations for providing Bay heat in a Class A while residing in British Columbia over the winter. I have electronic equipment such as a TV and Satellite Receiver which I do not want to get to cold or frozen over the winter.

RE: Explorer to Foxfire

Microsoft Explorer 7 really is a pain. If you dont go to Firefox and you want to get rid of Explorer 7 and re-install Explorer 6 then you can go the following Microsoft site and follow the instructions.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177
I did this and it uninstalled Explorer 7 and re-installed Explorer 6 which is actually just a part of Windows. Everything operated as normal with all your information, bookmarks, etc. intact.
You can also go to Google and just type in Delete Explorer 7 and the above Microsoft site comes up.

RE: Satellite TV at home and road

Yes you can have multiple receivers attached to your one account and some satellite providers will allow up to six receivers to be active on one account.
Some providers have a program called "Home Away From Home" which allows you to register all your receivers and confirm with the that one or more receivers you will be taking on the road with you.
If your receiver is inactive on the network for more approximately 2 weeks or more it will probably be deemed asleep on the network and you will have to contact your satellite provider so they can send a hit to the receiver to wake it up.

LCD HDTV Mounting On Bay Door

I was hoping to attach a 23" Flat Panel LCD TV screen to one of my bay doors to give me some additional room on the slide out bays.
The screen weighs about 5-6 lbs and the bracket would be about 6-8 lbs. Has anyone out there attempted this or do you know if this would be too much weight on the bay door?

RE: Thetford 70200 Sani-Con

Just an update to my Sani-Con problem!
The motor on the macerator has now quit and blows fuses when you turn it on.
Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Thetford 70200 Sani-Con

I have a Thetford 70200 Sani-Con and have had numerous clogging problems over the past 5 months. I am now using the Thetford 03300 Tissue and the Thetford Toss-Ins and it has been working OK until yesterday.
Yesterday when emptying the black tank the tank emptied successfully and then I filled it up two more times about 2/3 full and emptied the tank. On the third attempt the motor bogged down and changed sounds like it was really labouring for about 20-30 seconds. The motor then stopped. I used my screwdriver to turn the screw and it did seem a little tight. I then turned the motor on and it was dead. I discovered that it blew the 20amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and powered it on and it did pump the liquid what seemed at the proper rate but the motor now sounds different than before it stopped.
I have sent Thetford an email regarding my problem and am awaiting a response but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this problem.
Thank you!

How Often Should You Start Your Diesel Engine

This is our first year of full timing and is the first time we have been docked at one location for longer than a month. We have been docked for 3 months and have one more month before we head out for the next 9 months.
We have a trickle charger attached which keeps our chassis batteries charged when hooked up to shore power.
Should one be firing up the diesel engine from time to time when parked for 3 to 4 months?
Our coach has a Cummins ISL 400HP.

RE: Compatible system with Star Choice?

I would suggest you consider installing an automatic Star Choice SC2075 System designed by Explorer Satellite Systems.
When we travelled south for the first time this past winter we cancelled our Bell ExpressVu service and installed an automatic Star Choice SC2000 Systems by Explorer. We discovered as we got further south in the US it became eveident that we needed a bigger dish as we had to manually find the satellite wherever we went.
Whe we got back we upgraded to the SC2075 which uses the 75cm dish. We also added the GPS function for it which was another $400 but well worth it as it automatically finds your Latitude and Longitude. We also made sure we had four cables running directly from the LNB as that way we have true High Definition on 3 TV's in our coach as well as PVR capability at the front of our coach.
We had this system installed by Michael Andress as Net King Satellite in Chilliwack BC. If you are interested you can contact him at (800) 213-9347. He is not inexpensive! You can see additional information for Explorer at http://www.explorersc2000.com/en_produits.html
Hope this helps!

Thetford 70200 Sani-Con Macerator

I recently purchased a Thetford 70200 Sani-Con system and had it installed by a certified RV Mechanic at the FMCA Pomona convention this past spring.
We have had at least 5 miserable times whereby the macerator blade has become clogged with tissue and have had the unfortunate task of having to remove the clogs by hand (Not Very Pleasant).
We have now reverted to buying the Thetford 03300 Tissue and are now using the Thetford Aqua Kem Toss-Ins. We throw 5 toss-ins with every empty tank and a cap of fabric softener. So far the last 6 black water dumps have worked ok.
Has anyone else used this macerator and experienced this clogging problem?
If so what has been your solution?

Fuel Additives To Reduce Emmission & Increase Mileage

Has anyone used any of the diesel fuel additive manufactured by a company called Cavolution. They claim that this additive after approximately three tanks will Decrease Carbon Emissions* by up to 30%, Increase in Fuel Economy* by up to 20% and Decrease Fuel Costs* by up to 10%. *Dependent on make, model and age of vehicle.
Has anyone used this product and if so have you seen any increase or decrease as they claim?
Does anyone know if fuel additives will have any negative short term or long term effect on your diesel engine?
There web site is http://www.cavolution.com
I have just received 6 - 1 litre bottles. I have not used mine yet as my fuel tank is currently full and you are not supposed to put the additive in until the tank is empty so it mixes with the fuel properly. For a 100 Gallon tank you will need to use 3 3/4 litres of the additive. This company is located in Richmond BC, Canada.
